Beneficial for health and general stamina?

Beneficial for health and general stamina?

Over the past few months, I’ve ended each morning shower with two minutes of cold water – initially as an experiment, now as a habit. I’ve found it leaves me feeling more alert, focused and “mentally sharpened” for the day ahead.

Brief cold exposure is increasingly discussed in wellbeing circles, with some research suggesting potential benefits for circulation, inflammation, mood and resilience when practised sensibly by healthy individuals. For me, the main value has been psychological: choosing a small, uncomfortable action at the start of the day reinforces discipline, which translates well into complex professional work and decision‑making.

This isn’t medical advice – I’m not medically trained, and cold showers are not suitable for everyone, particularly those with heart or respiratory conditions. Anyone considering them should listen to their body and seek guidance from a healthcare professional where appropriate.

I’m curious how others in the profession build small daily practices that support clarity, composure and resilience. What have you found helpful?
